Sardar Udham- Review
Sardar Udham or Ram Mohammad Singh Azad?
Recently I watched this movie, Sardar Udham.So here I would like to give a review. But I am no one to comment on editing, cinematography,screen play, storytelling etc. as I really don't know what these things are. So why am I writing this?? this is because our constitution gives us freedom of speech and expression under article 19 so I will exercise my right by writing this review.Another reason for writing this blog is that I really liked the movie.As an ordinary viewer I found it very informative. After watching the trailer I was really curious to know that in which context sardar udham said,'koi zinda hai?' and after watching the movie I realised how painful that line is.
So here below are some reasons why one may or may not watch Sardar Udham;
- Gives us an insight of the lives of the british generals. How things used to happen in British India, outlook of britishers towards indians and the functioning of the organisations like HSRA abroad.
- Shaheed Bhagat Singh- Story of shaheed bhagat singh goes in the background of the movie.Sardar Udham was a friend or more like a brother to him.There was a scene in which Bhagat singh describes what a true revolutionary means and it was a very inspiring scene.It shows that Bhagat singh's greatness was not that act of bombing but his thoughts.He was an inspiration for sardar udham.Another scene that was really impactful was that question asked by sardar udham , 'what you were doing when you were 23 years old?"
- Jallianwala bagh sequences - I am running short of words to describe how intense this part was. The last 45 minutes of the movies can leave you angry and sad at the same time.The helplessness of the people to save their loved ones makes you feel that the killing of michael o dwyer was not wrong.There was monologue of udham singh in which he says that he killed Dwyer not because he hated him but because he represented the british government which curbed the freedom of Indians.It was a symbolic act.
- there is only one reason why one may not watch it- there are certain history refrences in it as it is a historical movie.For that one may have some rough idea about the colonial and early twentieth century India.
