A visit to National Museum.
National Museum, New Delhi
Oh! finally I visited this place.I was willing to go there since a very long time but no one at home found it worth going(sadly how most of the people assume it). But didi was generous yesterday and we planned our trip. There was a constant fear that it might be closed because of security concerns ahead of independence day.But the day I read this article I could not stop myself and I decided insisiting everyone to go there.
So, we decided of going in the evening we left for the museum around 4 pm.We took a bus from INA and it took us a few minutes to reach national museum bus stop. The feel of south block is so amazing..there are so many government buildings like UPSC, MEA etc. That area is supplied well with army staff for security purpose. The best thing is the bus will drop you just there on the location opposite museum near ministry of external affairs. One need to cross the road and there you are! We went to the ticket counter and since I am in class 11 I was exempted from buying ticket whereas didi had to buy one which cost her rupee 20.
After the checking process we went straight to the entry point. Firstly, we saw few statues and there was also my favourite dancing girl about which I heard in art class but that was a replica.
There was pashupati seal, tridev, yaksha, shields and bodhisatva head.
There were other section of Mauryan dynasty, shungh dynasty. pallava, cholas and artefacts from their times. The bronze sculptures were so beautifully made.
Then we went to the second floor. There was a seperate section of Kashi and few dohas of kabir and few written inscription. After that there were a mysore and tanjore paintings depiction stories of famous texts and poetry.

Then on the ground floor there were several exhibits. We entered the Indus valley civilisation section. It was so well lit, really it was the best part of the museum,My favourite original dancing girl is actually a 'bitte bhar ki ladki'.There were original pictures of the excavation sites. One could see everything from ornaments, tools, pots, utensils to toys and statues of buddha. The major attraction was a skeleton(picture 13) which is female skeleton found from the site. She had bangles in her left hand which was a sign she was married. There few pots found in her burrial which were kept for her after life same traditon was there in mesopotamia. There were large variety of e content.

I wish we had more time so that we can explore the second floor.I was fascinated by indus valley section as it was so amazing.I wish more and more people visit this place as yesterday there were only a handful of people. After few months this building will be no longer here due to the central vista project so these artefacts will be be shifted somewhere else.
Overall, it's a must visit place for all those who love history and those who are fascinated by it.
